1930’s Oahu Stromberg Parlor Spruce Rosewood Fancy Inlays Original Soft Shell Case
Out of stock
Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting..
A very unique and RARE 1930’s Oahu Stromberg Parlor Guitar. It comes completely original and even includes the original Purple Plush Soft Shell Case!
Oahu and Bronson guitars are closely related. They were started by half brothers (Oahu) who later split up into the two companies. Their guitars were Chicago made, by Regal, Stromberg-Voisinet or the Kay Custom Shop (in which the top end guitars were made by old world immigrants who had made guitars in Europe). An Oahu of this quality is extremely rare; most were student grade or lap steel guitars for the Hawaiian music craze in those days.
This cool Oahu guitar is very high quality from the typical Oahu Guitars I have found. Solid Spruce Top, Rosewood back and sides that are just beautiful. The Mahogany neck has a Rosewood overlay on the headstock and is hand carved with a Hawaiian Style on the back of the headstock. Beautiful wood marquetry on the sides and sound hole as well as a fully bound body and sound hole. The original pyramid bridge is in great shape and even has the original wood bridge pins and nut that looks like its made of bone. The frets are in fantastic shape. The tuners just as nice. The guitar is ladder braced and sounds wonderful. We glued and cleated two crack behind the bridge that looked pretty stable but wanted to insure no problems there. There are two previously repaired cracks on the back bottom that we inspected and decided were in fine shape. Our Techs set the guitar up with new light gauge strings. It plays great with effortless fingering with great action on the neck.
This Parlor guitar weighs just 2 lbs 14 ozs and has a nice soft V shaped neck. The nut measures 1 ¾ inches. The finger pickers out there will love this one. Very nice woody sound that is quite pronounced for a parlor guitar. I was surprised at the volume it produces.
The original case is as nice as the guitar. All latches, hinges, and leather handle are still with it and operating properly. Even the accessory box is still there with the lid firmly attached. A great case for this wonderful guitar.
Sold as-is as its vintage and used.. However, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for over 18 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This beautiful Oahu will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars.
