Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A vintage very rare 1936 Pre-war Regal Archtop Guitar ..This guitar is very difficult to date. The Headstock logo and Patent Pending tuners date this guitar to as late as 1940. The previous owner was told it was a 1936 so I will go with that. Its old, its cool, and it plays great.....
This cool Regal is built of the tradition of Gibson L48 and L50’s. Those were the popular guitars of the day. Regal used impressive woods and products to compete very well with the more expensive guitars being sold back then. It has Kluson open back tuners with Lolipop tuner buttons from Chicago. They are stamped Patent Pending, the tailpiece, bridge, nut and Tortise Pickguard are all original. Very high quality parts on this guitar. It has fancy wood purfling binding on the top, large various pearloid fret markers, and the Made in Chicago Regal Logo on the headstock. This guitar is in amazing shape.
This guitar plays and sounds amazing!! I played it for about 2 hours after we got it set up with a new set of 12 guage strings. I couldn't believe how nice it played. The original nut measures 1 11/16 inches .. Wider than I am used to but the neck profile is nice gentle C shape that fits my smaller hands great.
Onto the sound. This guitar has a Solid Spruce top and Mahogany back, sides and neck. I believe the fretboard is Ebony… it is really dark…. It is a CANNON...What a sound. You will never get lost playing with this awesome guitar. Crisp Clear Midrange and highs and what a low end!! Its a singers delight. Excellent finger picker and if you are hard strummer like me, it will just blast you away. What a great Guitar!!
This guitar is in amazing condition for its age. The original frets still have plenty of life and only very tiny superficial dings on her. Excellent neck angle for easy playing action. What a time capsule.
I didn't get an original case with this guitar. I didn’t want to ship it without so I bought a brand new Hard Shell Case to ship it in. Great case with a key. It will insure the travel for this cool Regal Archtop Guitar .... see pics...
Now this guitar is beautiful but vintage so it will be sold as-is no returns... However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for close to 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found for them. This cool Regal will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars!
