Today, Lawman Guitars Proudly Presents…
A beautiful historic Guitar. This is a 1937 USA Supertone by Sears and Roebuck Archtop Round Hole Guitar with the original softshell case. What a great guitar outfit.…what a great guitar…
We found this guitar is a Sears Catalog available in 1937 and 1938. There is a gap in the catalogs until 1941 but the guitar was not sold in the catalogs then. I am calling it a 1937 but have no numbers to share for my guess. Supertones were made to sell in Sears and Roebuck store catalogs from 1914 thru 1941. Harmony made most of the guitars after the 1920's and the faux Tiger Stripping on this model looks a lot like the Stellas we all know.
I especially love the fancy fret markers on this guitar. Very unique. As unique as the arch top with the round hole. This guitar has been very lightly played as evidenced by the frets. See pics. Bright brass frets with hardly any play on them at all. The Bakelite original Pickguard is still with this old timer and in great shape. The only thing missing is the original wood bridge. I could have added one that we have but this metal bridge looks so cool, I couldn't take it off. Our Techs said its working great and is quite the handmade bridge. I'll let the new owner decide if they want to replace it. It looks COOL; and its been on there a long long time!
The guitar was not playable when we got it. We did a complete neck reset to give it proper low playing easy action. It plays great now and is a an absolute pleasure to strum. No sore fingers with this guitar. The Supertone Headstock logo is still on it, as is the sound hole label. Those are always missing. The tuners are in great shape and the tuner buttons are not loose at all. They appear to be Bakelite as well as the pickguard.
This historic guitar is ready to play out of the box. New strings and it sounds great. It would look great on anyones wall or in your Vintage Guitar collection, but I really hope someone gets it to play. Its a great guitar!
The original Soft Shell Case is as nice as the guitar. All latches, hinges and original handle are still with it. Even the accessory box is still working! The cool Blue interior is still in great shape. No musty odors or mildew in this case!
The guitar is awesome but used and vintage so its sold as is no returns. However, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for over 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This incredible Supertone will certainly not be an exception!
Thanks for checking our our cool guitars.
