1954 Fender Tweed Champ Amp Model 5D1 Serviced New 3 prong cord
Out of stock
Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting…
An Excellent 1954 Fender Tweed 5D1 Champ amp. Only the second year for these cool amps. It sounds amazing. I have had 6 of these now and this one sounds the best of all of them. My amp tech said it didn’t appear that this one had had much play. Completely gone through and serviced..Replaced original tubes, some leaky or bulging caps and a new safety 3 prong power cord…Great shape and even has the original leather handle. Those are always missing or broke…only the back panel is missing.
We dated it from the serial number of 7721. It is stamped on both the chassis and written onto the tube chart inside the box. See pics 13 and 14…
I still own one of these. There is no sound to duplicate the sound of an over driven Tweed Champ. Only one control..a volume control that goes from zero to 12! At about 5 it takes over…If you have never experienced one of these, be prepared to be impressed. At 4 watts, it will surprise you with what it can do. I recorded an entire CD with a Fender Tweed Champ, just like this amp. They are extremely versatile..
Here some info I found on the web regarding these cool amps..
The Fender Champ evolved out of the Champion 600 and 800 which launched in the late '40s. Originally, the Champ was a tweed-covered 4 watt amp with a 6-inch speaker. All of these details would evolved during its production run, with a switch to a black cover coming in 1964.
Years of Production: 1953 - 1982
Unique to this Era: In 1955, transition made from wide to narrow-panel cabinet with smaller panels above and below the speaker grill.
Features: 4-watts, 6-inch speaker, two inputs, volume control
These cool Tweed Champs have been escalating in price …a lot…they are not going down anytime soon. I have watched them over 18 years now and I believe that not only are you getting an excellent vintage amp, you will be getting an amp that will continue to appreciate.
Sold as-is as it vintage and used..However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments and gear for over 18 year now. They have all loved the guitars and amps I find. This cool Champ Amp will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool instruments.
