Today Lawman Guitars is Presenting…
An incredible find… A beautiful 1955 Harmony H88 Stratotone Doublet Guitar with the original Hard Shell Case.
This guitar is in incredible shape and is all original except for the input jack cover.
These cool Harmony guitars were only made from 1954 thru 1957. They did not provide any serial numbers to help with identifying dates of these guitars. We checked the pots for any dates but sadly, no dates. That means this guitar is somewhere between 1954 and 1957. We are calling it a 1955, just because!
This cool guitar sports the Black finish and two cool pre Hersey Bar Pickups. The single coil H44 guitars, which are so popular, are usually copper colored and have only one pickup…
We had our Tech do a setup with new 10 gauge strings for easy playing action. He also reinforced the cracked pickguard under the control knobs. Someone must have banged it sometime in its life. It is stable now but care should be taken with it. The guitar has numberous dings and scratches from its long life. Only player wear. The original frets are in very good shape. We are very happy the original Harmony Stratotone logo is still nice and bright. The nut measures a full 1 ¾ inches. The big handed guys like these. It has a 25 inch scale neck. It weighs only 5 lbs 3 ozs. The neck is nice and full. A big C profile that feels really great in the hand. Great for finger picking and slide guys love these, but it plays great standard style with easy playing action as its set up now.
All original from there to include the awesome sounding dual Bar Single coil pickups, original Wavery tuners, Harmony Cream colored stacked knobs, Pickguard, Tailpiece, nut and even the Tuner Grommets.
The Pickup sounds incredible. Very dark and bluesy…. Slide players love these but these guitars handle all styles. Richie Valens played on the single pickup model when he was still around in the 1950’s!
Don’t forget the awesome original Harmony Hard Shell Case. You never find these with the guitar. I was thrilled that the owner of this guitar still had the case. All latches, hinges and original handle are still with it.. We are so lucky to have the original case with this guitar. Just as nice as the guitar. What a great guitar combo to have!
Sold as-is no returns as its vintage and used…however, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for over 20 years now and they have all loved the guitars I found them. This incredibly used Harmony H88 will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitar.
