Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A beautiful and great sounding 1958 Gibson LG-1 with original alligator style case.
This beautiful Gibson guitar not only looks great but sounds great as well. Awesome voice on this guitar and it plays great as well. Not the lowest action I have had but far from needing a neck reset.
This guitar is all original to include the Single Line Kluson Deluxe Tuners, Bridge, nut, bridge pins and pickguard...There is one Professionally repaired by a Gibson Authorized Luthier, crack next to the pickguard. See pic 4...It is properly glued and cleated as it should...No other cracks or breaks to report.
It didn't need much help from us... We cleaned it up and put a new set of 12 guage Phosphor Bronze Strings on it.
Heres some info from Reverb regarding these LG-1 Guitars..
During World War II, Gibson pared its flat-tops down to six standard models, the Gibson LG-1 acoustic guitar among them. As a student model, the LG-1 was introduced alongside the LG-2 and LG-3 to be a less expensive model that even younger players could afford. Because it was initially intended to be a lower-end guitar, the LG-1 uses ladder-style bracing and is made of a mahogany back with a spruce top.
The LG-1 was introduced along with the LG-2 and LG-3 as a lower-end student model during World War II. All three models were very similar, and the LG-1 featured Mahogany back and sides with a Spruce top. As a lower-end guitar, the LG-1 used lateral or ladder style bracing. Eventually, the LG series was supplanted by the B series as Gibson's main student-level acoustic flattop.
Years of Production: 1942, 1946 - 1968 (some shipped as late as 1974)
Wood Composition: Mahogany back and sides, Spruce top, Rosewood fingerboard
Design Elements: Dot inlays, lateral bracing, 24 3/4-inch scale length, long pointed pickguard
We dated this guitar from the FON stamped inside the guitar on the neck block. It starts with a T which indicates 1958 and has 6 numbers after that. The LG-1 Guitars have Sunburst finishes with ladder braces as opposed to the X braced LG-2 and LG-3 Guitars. These also have bindings which the LG-O do not. The Spruce top is beautiful and only has a small dings and such. Beautiful Mahogany back and sides that have nice finish crazing...Check those pics!
The original Gibson Soft Shell Alligator Look case is as nice as the guitar...All the latches, hinges and original handle are still with it and operating properly.. See pics..Even the case accessory box is still with this guitar. What a great case for this historic Gibson Guitar!
The guitar is awesome but vintage and used so its sold as-is no returns..However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for close to 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found for them. This incredible Gibson will certainly not be an exception..
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars, basses, amps and parts!
