Today Lawman Guitars is Presenting..
A really cool Pro Player Guitar. This beautiful 1965 Epiphone Riviera is well played…by GE Smith. This was one of his own personal guitars. I have no idea if he ever played it on Saturday Night Live, but it is one of his. A certificate indicating his prior ownership is included. It comes complete with the original Epiphone Hard Shell Case that’s just as nice as the guitar.
This guitar has been played over the year. Only player wear. No abuse on this beauty. The original frets still have plenty of life in them although they could use a dressing. There is some fingerboard devoting in the top few frets and certainly finish that has worn off on the back of the neck and a few places on the back. This guitar was no closet classic. It was played professionally and played a lot! It weighs in at 8 lbs..has a nice C profile neck with a 1 9/16 inch nut.
Heres some info regarding these cool Riviera Guitars…
The Epiphone Riviera was released as a semi-hollowbody thinline in 1962. The design shared much with the Epiphone Sheraton, especially as the Sheraton evolved throughout the '60s. The Riviera, for example, was introduced with mini-humbuckers while the Sheraton original had New York pickups. Epiphone has reissued a number of import Rivieras in recent years.
Years of Production: 1962 - 1970
Unique to this Year: First year for Sunburst finish.
Body Style: Semi-hollowbody double cutaway
Design Elements: Dual mini-humbuckers, 24 3/4-inch scale length, white three-ply pickguard, frequensator tailpiece, single-bound top and back, Maple centerblock
Finish Specification: Sunburst became a finish option for the Riviera in 1965.
This beautiful guitar is all original. Double line Kluson Tuners, Mini Humbuckers, bridge, tailpiece, pickguard, knobs…everything! The guitar plays like a dream and the pickups sound outstanding. They are my favorite Gibson Pickup. I think they are hands down superior over the P90 and Humbuckers. Very thick and toneful. They sound great!
The guitar is cool enough but to be able to tell your bandmates that this was GE Smiths guitar is just cool. The new owner will be thrilled when it arrives!
The guitar is beautiful but used and vintage so sold as-is no returns…however, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for over 18 years now and they all love the instuments I find them. This cool Epi will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars.
