Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting..
A survivor of the 1960’s, a Mosrite Serenade Acoustic with the original Hard Shell Case… It sounds great and looks really cool. Check those pics..
This guitar is listed on the label as a #403, see pic 13, ... it has a serial number of FA-8218 ... It does not list the model as a Serenade. This could be a very early one as they were just getting ready to introduce them. All the Serenade guitars I could find had set necks. This one is a bolt on neck. They were offered in Natural Finish or Burgandy Shaded.... This one is certainly Burgandy Shaded.... This guitar is Quite the mystery. Happy to hear from any Mosrite experts out there!
If you are looking for a closet classic, this one is not for you… It is a significant example of Semi Moseleys early guitar building but this one needed a lot of our attention. The neck pocket had collapsed. It needed to be rebuilt which we did. The top had fallen in with the neck heel so we repaired it as shown. It is a great repair and should last the life of the guitar with no problems. The heavily sprayed Nitro finish has cracked on the top. It was obviously too heavy, like the Italian Guitar Spray jobs back in the 1960's. They always cracked as well. No body cracks, these are all in the finish. We adjusted the neck using the bolt on neck feature to give the guitar very easy playing action. The frets are in fine shape and are small like the Mosrite Electric Guitars. The original Pickguard was missing. We did not attempt to recreate one. We will leave that decision to the new owner. From there, original truss rod cover, bridge, tuners and the lovely Hard Shell Case that is in great shape!
The guitar sounds great. Crisp Mid range tone that projects nicely. The top is solid spruce so it gives a great tonal range. Electric guitar players will find this familiar...the nut measures 15/8 inches like our electric guitars .... 14.5 inch Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. A very significant Historic guitar here.
As you can see, the case is in better shape than the guitar was. Its really nice... Excellent Burgandy interior and all latches and original handle are still present...One small area of missing Tolex. See pic 16.. It will continue to protect your cool vintage guitar as it has for all these years.
Sold as-is as its used and vintage, however, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for over 18 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This cool Mosrite will certainly not be an exception..
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars.
