Today Lawman Guitars is Proudly Presenting..
A really cool 1977 Alvarez Yairi, Made in Japan Model DY 68 12 string Acoustic Guitar with the original Hard Shell Case…It was called the Rambling 12!! What a beautiful guitar and it plays better than any 12 string I could find in this entire town. What great action this guitar has..No sore fingers on this one. I played it for a half an hour in the shop before buying it. Really great action and a deep soul full sound. What a guitar.
Alvarez guitars are really great but the Yairi made Alverez guitars are always a great find… His guitars are much sought after and after playing this one, I can see why! Its tuned down a step as suggested and it sounds incredible. Beautiful 12 string that’s a joy to play!
Heres some info on these cool guitars I found on the internet….
When Kazuo Yairi began designing and hand-crafting guitars in the 1960’s, he was not trying to create a “mid-range” alternative to the best American guitars; he was consciously competing with Martin, Gibson, Guild, and the “boutiques” for the higher end guitar market in the U.S. This DY-68 “Rambling Twelve” model—designated 5068 until 1976, I believe--is an example of the quality and sound which he was able to produce using the highest quality materials, the best Japanese craftsmen, and his own modifications of the most effective American designs. Today, the prices of the Alvarez-Yairi acoustic guitars range from $1200 to $5000 and beyond, and as Alvarez Yairi players will tell you, they are well worth the money.
The guitar has top notch products in it.. A two piece solid Spruce X-braced top, Mahogany back and sides and the bridge is solid to the body..No lifting apparent. The string angle is perfect and the strings are as low to the fretboard as I have ever seen on an acoustic 12 string guitar…Original Pickguard and nut, as well as the original Tuners and Tuner grommets. I didn’t replace the strings as they were replaced in the shop. Not much time on them yet! The bindings have yellowed to a really cool looking amber color. This is a really cool guitar!
Just superficial dings and scratches to this guitar. After all, its already 41 years old.. See pics…
The original Hard Shell case is still doing its job. All latches, hinges and original handle are present . There are a couple places where the plastic has broken off..see pics 13 and 14 and the accessory box lid is loose. You don’t find these original cases offered so I was very happy it came with the guitar..Very nice case for your cool vintage guitar!
This guitar is beautiful but vintage and used so its sold as-is no returns..however, I have been hand picking my customers guitars for them for close to 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This beautiful Alvarez-Yairi is certainly not going to be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars.
