1978 Gibson Hummingbird Custom Red Wine Pro Setup Original Hard Shell Case
Only 1 available

Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting..
A really cool Vintage 1978 Gibson Flattop Guitar. The Primo of the Gibson line, the Gibson Hummingbird Custom in Red Wine with the original Gibson Hard Shell case!
This guitar is dated to 1978 from the impressed serial number on the back of the neck. It is also stamped Second. That is for some small finish imperfection that is impossible to determine where it is after so many years. I have yet to find why Gibson has marked any second... we have sold many over the years!
With a full complement of ornate cosmetic details, the Gibson Hummingbird was Gibson's second most expensive production acoustic when it premiered in 1960. The Hummingbird deviated from older Gibson dreadnoughts designs in its use of square shoulders instead of the rounded shoulders found on models like the J-45. Largely due to its striking visual flair, the Hummingbird remains one of Gibson's most iconic acoustics.
Years of Production: 1960 - present
Body Style: Dreadnought
Wood Composition: Mahogany back and sides, Mahogany neck, Spruce top
Design Elements: Square shoulders, long ornate pickguard, deep set neck, adjustable bridge saddle, double parallelogram inlays
Notable Players: John McLoughlin, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards
This guitar sounds as good as it looks. I have never had a Hummingbird before. This one sounds magnificent. I have lots of vintage J45’s and this one sounds much different. Very clean sounding and it’s a CANNON! Very very loud.
