Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A Beautiful 1987 used Gibson ES335 59’ Dot Reissue Guitar with the original Gibson Cali Girl Plush Hard Shell Case...... Wow...what a guitar! I couldn't wait to get this one listed for my customers!
This guitar was played lovingly by a Pro Player here in Des Moines. Its in great original shape but has had a Professionally repaired neck crack. Not a break … just a crack. It slipped off the guitar stand one night and was quickly repaired. See pic 9. It is also a Gibson Second. It is stamped above the serial number. They were sent to dealers with this stamp for small finish dings or tiny imperfections. Today, its impossible to tell from a used guitar why it was a second. It is used so it has some dings and scratches. There is an area just behind the tailpiece that is lighter. Not sure why but check the pics…
I cannot show the beauty of this guitar from my pics...The top and back are beautiful Maple ...Gibson saves their best woods for natural finished guitars. They use woods with imperfections for sunburst and colors as they are painted…. Check those pics..Even better in person.
If it was just beautiful, that would almost be enough to buy this guitar, but it plays great, and sounds wonderful. The Gibson Tim Shaw Humbuckers are rich and full of tone...I love the vintage sound these guitars and pickups provide.
Here's some info I found on the net regarding these cool guitars..
Here is what Gibson themselves has to say about the venerable ES-335 –
"History speaks for itself. The ES-335 is one of the most important guitars of all time. Right from its introduction in 1958 as the world’s first semi-hollowbody electric guitar it has been a mainstay of players eager to balance the gorgeous, round, mellow tones perfect for jazz and blues with the edge and sustain of a full-blooded solidbody.
Today, Gibson creates exacting duplicates of the ES-335 as it first left the Kalamazoo plant in 1958. That year just 267 were built, but the original vintage 335s grew steadily in popularity, peaking in 1967 thanks largely to Eric Clapton’s high-profile use of a cherry ES-335 in the band Cream. What a player. Excellent action and the neck is dead straight. Plays like a dream. Very very cool sounds coaxed from the beautiful guitar.
Check out that case. It has a replaced handle but all else is there and working properly. Love the California Girl Pink Plush with the Brown Gibson Case. An awesome case for your cool guitar!
Sold as-is as its used, however, I have been handpicking vintage guitars for my customers for close to 20 years now and they have all loved the guitar I found for them. This cool Gibson will not be an exception.
