Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A Super RARE 1971 Vintage Fender Custom Color Tele with Factory Bigsby Guitar with the original Fender Hardshell Case...
This guitar from 1971 is UBER RARE…they didn’t do anything stock in 1971 Tele’s except Blonds…This one had to be ordered from the factory is this really cool hard to find Sunburst. But that wasn’t all they ordered. They also had Fender install the Factory Bigsby. No string holes in the back. This guitar was made with the original Bigsby…How cool is that. The white guard also looks unusual as most of them back in that time frame were black guards. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this guitar. Very very rare! I have seen some red customs but this was my first Sunburst!
The medium Jumbo original frets have some pitting and flattening but still have plenty of life in them. See pic 5 .. the Tuners are original, the Pickguard, tailpiece, Both Pickups and knobs .. I was taken back when I found the 1966 pots in this guitar. I was told that Fender had a huge stock of these solid stem pots and used them until they were gone. I am assured that the pots et all, are all original …See pic 4...
Heres some info I found on the net regarding the pots..
A Fender Control plate with original wiring harness and knobs from a 1971 Telecaster which includes the original selector switch, capacitor and pots. The pot codes read 137-6634, which translates to CTS Manufactured the 34th week of 1966. It is well known that Fender ordered a large number of CTS pots in 1966 that took several years for them to use up on their instruments. Thus, pot codes from 1966 have been found on Fender guitars as late as 1972. So, this Fender Tele’s wiring harness could probably be used on any Tele from 1966 to 1972
This guitar plays as nicely as it looks. I just got it back from the Tech with new 10 guage strings. I prefer 10’s with a Whammy…. The action is whisper low and the pickups absolutely sing…You will love the sound of this cool Tele!
The original Fender Hardshell Case is very nice as well...All latches and hinges work and the interior and exterior are in great shape..see pics 10 and 11...The original Handle has some leather coming loose, but its all the there. You can see the imprint of the bigsby inside the case. No doubt about the authenticity of this case…its yummy!!
Now this guitar is uber cool but old and vintage so it will be sold as-is no returns... however, I have been hand picking my customers guitars now for over 16 years. They all have loved the guitars I find…check my Feedbacks..this one will not be an exception......Thanks for looking...
Please check my other offerings for other cool vintage guitars, amps and guitar parts!
