Hoyer Acousto-Electric Model 721 Thinline Pro Setup Hardshell Case 1963 Natural
Out of stock
Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A really cool, and really rare, Made in Germany 1963 Hoyer Thinline Archtop Eletric Guitar with original Hardshell Case.
The Hoyer company has been making guitars and instruments since 1948…They Heyday of Hoyer guitars is the Mid 1960’s which this cool guitar falls right into..
I have no way of dating this guitar but was told it’s a 1963. I have one of these in a 1966 Hoyer catalog and it has an early serial number so I know it probably is a 1963. The original 90th Anniversary Label is still in the sound hole. Unfortunately, some owner decided that was a good place to write their name. See pic 15..
This guitar is all original except the bridge. It would have had an adjustable bridge on it originally but it is missing and the holes that accepted the studs had been worn out. We filled the holes and added a fixed wooden bridge that works great. From there, its all original.
It features Double line Kluson Tuners, insane pickups that I believe are Hofners, Original Vibrato, and working, tailpiece, wiring, knobs, Pickguard frets, truss rod cover, et all…What a piece of Rock and Roll history this guitar is…
It has a thin line arched top and back body with a Spruce top and manhogany back and sides. The neck is rock Maple and it has an Ebony Fretboard. The original frets are still in great shape. The finish has a lot of finish crazing on the top, and a lot of finish worn off the back and sides. The original body bindings have a lot of cracking. They still appear to be stable but some day down the road, they will need attention. See pics..
The neck angle on the guitar is awesome. Good thing because it’s a set neck. I know, theres a neck plate on the back…correct, but when my Tech took the neck plate off, he laughed and said, its there for looks. It covers nothing but the screw holes for the plate. German fake out? LOL.. Anyway, it doesn’t need a neck reset anytime soon. Action is nice and low at only 1/8 inch at the 12th fret. This is a very thin profile neck. A lot like a Hagstrom in that regard. Very fast neck on this cool guitar.
The sound is awesome with the Single coil Pickups. My winding Tech told me these look like Hofner Pickups. Given its German, that would make sense but I cannot verify that. They do sound great and I hope to have a demo up soon to show how cool this guitar plays and sounds..
Comes with a non original newer Hardshell Case. It fits the guitar well. Back latch is broken ...see pic
Sold as is no returns as its vintage and used..However...I have been hand picking my customers guitars out for them for over 18 years now and they love the instruments I find. This incredibly RARE German Guitar will certainly not be an exception..
