Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...A Beautiful 1961 Desert Sand National Resoglas Studio 66 Guitar with original Softshell Case... This one has the awesome Valco Single Coil Pickup and it sounds great...
Be sure to check out the video demo we did for a similar Studio 66. Not this same guitar but one just like it.
This guitar is 100% Original except for the bridge, (more about that later in the description). There are a few dings and scratches but overall, the resoglas body is in great shape. See pics. The Neck has player wear and some fading from years of handling. See pics. The frets are in great shape as is the original nut tailpiece. After that, only the chrome inlay is missing from the tone knob. Great shape for a guitar thats 57 years old!
I dated it to 1961 from the Serial Number plate on the back of the headstock. What a cool guitar. I have owned 4 of these now. The first was in 1964. It was my first electric guitar as a 12 year old. Mowed a lot of yards to get that guitar. Traded it in along the way but always missed it. Bought and sold one as my first experience with eBay and now a couple more. They are very cool and way ahead of there time back in the early 1960's...
I had Jeff the Tech check this one out and set it up with new strings. It plays great with awesome action. I have it set as low as she will go and has plenty of room to raise it. The Valco pickup is quite strong and rings like all the Supros and National guitars that have these.
The Kluson Single Line Tuners still operate as they should. The National Butterfly Tuner Buttons are also in great shape for their age. See pics
The bridge is one of our National or Supro Bridge replacements. They look and operate as the originals. I sell a lot of them and my customers love them. Check my Reverb store if you need one! Original replacements are hard to find!
The case is as nice as the guitar. Fits it perfectly and is still doing its job. All latches, hinges and handle are present and working great. Only the accessory box lid is loose. Still in the case. Just loose.
Sold as-is no returns as its vintage and used but note that I have been hand-picking vintage guitars for my customers for over 18 years now. All have loved the guitar I found for them. This cool National will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars and basses.
